How to make my own Barbie clothes?

Found my old Barbie Dolls and would love to p them to my niece. But after so many years the dolls have no clothing. I would like to sew some for them but patterns are expensive or only one skirt is cute. How can I make my own patterns without needing a special software? Making patterns from scratch? Or a good web site what has free printable patterns.
